Our lead wrangler, has two great passions in life: working with horses, and ecology. Having worked on ranches throughout the West, Sebastian comes to us following a 600 mile horseback trek across the Northern Great Plains to start conversations about grassland conservation. Sebastian brings extensive knowledge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, and years of experience working with horses and people in fun, educational environments.
The founder of MAERA, and one of our lead instructors, Sasha has a passion for the outdoors, the wilderness and horses. Sasha started her first non-profit 14 years ago, and with her dreams and passions helped to create this amazing program for children and adults. Sasha specializes in horse communication, mounted archery, wilderness survival and primitive skills. She is our lead horse trainer and has spent her life working with horses, children and families.
Nathan is one of our amazing staff who is dedicated to exploring, learning and being in the wilderness. Nate came to us from Main after spending 60 days hiking on the appalacian trail. He found the MAERA program, and showed up to volunteer 2 years ago. Nate fell in love with Montana and spent his first year helping with MAERA survival adventure camps, helping on pack trips and trail rides in yellowstone, and running dog sled rides through the winter.
Sheila comes to us with years of experience in the backcountry. She is amazing with horses and people and loves to integrate people into the Montana back country. Sheila is working with us in many different facets. She is our lead registration contact and scheduler, thought she will also work on rides, and witht he chidlrens program options.
